This Black Cherry Knot Burl, formed from a healed branch growth, contains primarily creamy sapwood, which after exposure to UV rays, has developed a subtle pink undertone.

These hues contrast with the focal point of this piece, the Amazonite gemstone set into the middle of the wood. The surrounding cavity was filled with colour-matched epoxy. Rather than leaving a conventional boundary around the gemstone, the resin extends outward into the surrounding depression, creating the impression that the stone is dissolving into the blue-green material.
