Ironwood Healed Branch Knot with Brass Inlay

L'HISTOIRE

Formed from the densest and hardest native tree in Canada - aptly called “Ironwood”, this small vessel has a compact, almost stone-like character. Harvested from a long-fallen specimen, the exterior has shed its bark to expose the now weathered cambium, with its unique swirls and patterns on full display.

The creamy, warmly tinted sapwood and dense structure are contrasted by this exterior, and complemented by brass set into the heartwood’s void, giving the piece the character of something forged rather than simply carved.
