Oak Knot Burl Sculpture with Blue Epoxy

$300.00

THE STORY

This White Oak formation opens around a small pool of blue epoxy, creating a visual depth that contrasts with the surrounding heartwood cavity. The contrast continues as the dark heartwood has been finished with a layer of glossy epoxy, whereas spalting has introduced cream colours into the sapwood, finished with tung oil for a subdued, matte appearance.

Within the cavity, the sealed blue surface reads as a separate element, suggesting water held within the boundaries of the formation and is reminiscent of a cenote.
