ALECTO

A Sugar Maple healed branch knot shaped into a low, elongated form reminiscent of a small canoe or boat. Its naturally curved profile follows the structure of the knot, while the interior reveals an intensely chatoyant maple figure that shifts between light and dark as the surface catches the light.

A ring of cherry-red epoxy follows the hollowed perimeter of a distorted heartwood section, creating a vivid circular focal point. The piece has been lightly fumed to deepen the maple's natural tones and increase the contrast within its already highly figured grain.
